Kansas bill to provide immunity to minors seeking medical assistance for alcohol-related emergency

Kansas House Bill 2198 would protect minors (people over 18 but under 21) who seek medical assistance for alcohol related emergencies, either for themselves, or for others, provided that the person cooperates with law enforcement and medical personnel.

The law would also apply to adults seeking medical assistance for a minor.

The minor or adult would also be required to remain at the scene until law enforcement and medical personnel arrive, so the law would not apply to those “dumping” a victim in a hospital parking lot.
